Where to stay?

Due to the limited hotel offer, you will wonder where to stay in the Perhentian Islands. Perhentian Besar offers the most expensive hotels, some very fair resorts, don’t think they are like those in the Caribbean! And Perhentian Kecil has more offers for backpackers, simpler and cheaper cabins, many of them without a bath or hot water, although on this island there is also some other resort.

In Besar, the most luxurious resort is undoubtedly the Perhentian Island Resort, located on one of the most beautiful beaches of the Perhentian Islands.

Another of the most luxurious resorts in the Perhentian Islands is located right next to the previous one, the Coral View Island Resort, a complex with beautiful cabins, followed in comfort by the Tuna Bay Island Resort, one of the most expensive and has best cabins (concrete) and services.

Another of the resorts most sought-after is the Abduls Chalet, located in a beautiful beach, with simple huts and with one of the restaurants with better prices and with dinners based barbecue on the beach all night, every night.

Another recommended resort is the Mamas Chalet, located right next to which we stay the Barat Perhentian.

In Barat, Perhentian is the accommodation I recommend. It is a newly built resort with the best restaurant on the island, where you can pay by card, service available to very few establishments in the Perhentian Islands. The cabins are very new with everything you need, including plasma TV. Wifi is very regular, like everyone else on the island. The hotel also has a pier to disembark, and although its beach is not one of the best, it is a 1-minute walk from the shore of the Peruvian Island Resort.

In Kecil, one of the most luxurious hotels is the Bubu Resort, although its rooms are not cabins. Another of the most recommended is the Altman Resort and the DLagoon Chalet, although the latter is somewhat further away.

Long Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Kecil and where many of the cheapest accommodations are located, ideal for backpackers.

¡Eye!! Given the shortage of housing, for July and August, I recommend that you book as soon as possible. Many of these accommodations in February will already be booked for that date.

If you decide to take risks and travel without reservation, before going around the beach looking for accommodation as many backpackers do, I would recommend you book at the agencies of Kuala Besut although I will say that finding accommodation will be only in Kecil.

From September 2017, you must pay a tourist fee in hotels of 10 RM per room and night.

Where are the Perhentian Islands?

The Perhentian Islands are located in northeast Malaysia about 10 miles from the coast, in Terengganu state, within Pulau Redang National Marine Park, so the area is “theoretically” protected.

The Perhentian Islands are composed of Perhentian Besar, which is the largest island, and Perhentian Kecil, the smallest.
